First shots with the Kowa 1.6 extender

Below are just a few of the images I've got recently using the new Kowa 1.6 extender on my Kowa 883 'scope and 25-60x eyepiece.  The quality of the new extender is impressive and very sharp.  More to follow...

Digiscoped with Canon S90, Swarovski ATS 80 HD, 20x and 30x eyepieces. Shot as raw files on iso 200. Raw files converted with Canon Digital Photo Professional. Resulting images cropped and chopped in Photoshop.

Rockin' Robin

Aren't Robins brilliant! This chappy hopped around my feet at Stewartby and it seemed rude not to take its portrait.

Autumnal Robin

Robin at Broom, 29th August 2008. Robins are one of my favourite species to photograph. They are always full of character and usually sit still long enough for me to grab a few shots!

More from the P5100

Took these today at Octagon Farm. I'm still not very impressed with the focus on this thing. It's very random and often misses the mark by a long way. The two shots above are about the best from over 100 images taken.

On the upside however, this model works well with my Swaro 30x eyepiece, with no vignetting when you find the 'sweet spot'.

Stockgrove

As the sun was shining I through a spot of woodland bird photography was in order at Stockgrove CP near Heath and Reach. Their Nutchatches are usually very tame, and today was no exception. There was also a good selection of other common stuff, which flocked down soon after I sacrificed three mint viscount biscuits...
